Human rights, rights every human has. But when you look around, how many of those rights are violated? how many of them are ignored? how many people know that they have human rights? On this page we will write an Article about these questions.

Violated Human Rights
Anas is a refugee from Syria, he came here by plane. Anas came through Lebanon, Turkey and Greece. When he arrived in the Netherlands he was placed in the AZC in Middelburg. He had a very rough past few years. But he told us about his journey and about the good and bad things that happened.
The countries surrounding Syria reacted very differently on the wave of refugees coming their way, some of them closed the borders others opened them. Anas had a Syrian passport, because of this he was able to travel to Lebanon and than to Turkey. But he didn't have a choice, he had to go to Turkey because Turkey was one of the few countries that opened his borders for Syrian refugees. Once he was there he couldn't stay there for more than 24 hours. After travelling to Turkey they continued flying to Greece. In Greece they were treated rather well, people were nice to them and helped them. Only if they would rally against the army or citizens they were of course taken in custody. Overall Anas is treated very well. But he was very lucky to be able to have such an 'easy' journey. A lot of other people weren't this lucky and have maybe different stories to tell.
When Anas first came to Netherlands, he had taken a plane to Schiphol. The moment he arrived, he had to go through security. Anas told them he was seeking asylum in the Netherlands and that he was a refugee from Syria. He went to take the procedure refugees have to take in order to start living in the Netherlands and after that moved to Middelburg, where he still lives today. Anas left Syria because there is a big war going on. It was and still is, very hard to live in Syria. He was around the age of 18 and starting to really focus on a good future, but he couldn’t. When even buying basic life requirements got too dangerous he decided he had to leave the country and go somewhere else to start a new life with a better future.
When he arrived in the Netherlands he already felt good, even though it took some time for him to actually be accepted legally into the Netherlands. His future is something he is still working on, but he sees more opportunity then in Syria, even though he has to begin from scratch. He sees everyone here being very kind towards him and trying to help him in different ways. Knowing about the amount of refugees fleeing towards the north of Europe and the Netherlands he really respects all the help the people give,.
Not having made a lot of social contacts doesn’t really bother him. He goes to the market and other places with a lot of people to make new contacts and maybe start a relationship. He also hopes to make new contacts in his school or after that when he found a job.
Practicing his religion in the Netherlands is also not a problem for him, although he finds himself having difficulty sometimes when he is in his room. This is because there are two other people who live there and they have different religions. There is a part of the Netherlands who are disgusted by the Islam but he hasn’t really noticed anyone being less friendly towards him for his religion. Everybody he meets tries to help him a lot and he hopes to show the Netherlands the Islam isn’t like some people think. He wants to show them that his religion is a nice religion too and that the Syrian civilization is a normal one, just like the civilization in the Netherlands.
Because this migration story is one of a lucky person, it’s not that easy to find the damaged human rights for Anas. One I can find is article 3 (Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.), actually he had to use a fake passport to move from one country from another, he couldn’t use his own identity. In other migration cases article 13 (1. Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each State. 2. Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.), is also violated, because they mostly don’t get permission to leave their country. In this case there is also listened to article (14: 1. Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution. 2. This right may not be invoked in the case of prosecutions genuinely arising from non-political crimes or from acts contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.)
Considering the fact that Anas is just one guy amongst so many others, others who weren't always as lucky as him, we can say that the Syrian war caused a lot of violated Human Rights. War itself is bad, but living in a dictatorship can be even worse. We wish every other human to be able to seek refuge in any country, to have freedom of speech and religion, but most of all to find his/her happiness.
